It’s all Iceland’s fault…..

….It really is! I mean, they obviously didn’t read the memo correctly! Is it me, or can anyone else see ANY issues with the simple memo that the British govenment sent to the Icelandic people -

LOOK WHAT THEY SENT INSTEAD!!!! >_<

Idiots.

Not that I am complaining though!

You see…. I was stuck in New York City…. more specifically – in Manhattan!  :D

Yes, we were there on a business trip, and yes, we did 12 hour days without fresh air everyday, but each day started with a run in Manhattan, through Central Park, between the neighbourhoods of 3o something and 60 something streets across 2nd and 6 avenue. Dinner/supper was a random selection of restaurant somewhere in Midtown; often a decent joint, sometimes not so great!

I must admit, eating out everyday – not great fun. Really! Besides that, we had the most AWESOME weekend break in NYC. The weekend started with a team brunch at Sarabeth’s, then a walk through Central Park (watched some little league), dropped into the Apple Store on 5th Avenue, had a jaw dropping moment when we walked into Harold Winston and came across a ruby and diamond necklace worth $9million, caught a train to the meat packing district and walked through Chelsea market, went for a walk on the High Line (which btw was FANTASTIC!). The next stop was the Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty (and back!), and the final stop of the day was Ground Zero. The day ended with some drinks in Little Italy, and dinner in China Town.

The Sunday was an early start and a road trip to Woodbury Common (upstate NY) for the day.

I think the best moment of the 12 days in NYC had to be dinner at the Chinese restaurant on our last night. I dont think I (or the others) have laughed so hard in one evening alone. I must admit, the 7 additional days added to the team bonding, and brought us closer as a group. If we are to spend the next 9 months together on the project, I think we need to get to grips with each others quirks. Eyjafjallajokull did that for us.

All this was Iceland’s fault…… I think I am OK with that.
