These are tough times that we are living in… heck, trying to survive in. For those living in the UK, or who follow the news internationally, you will see Royal Mail workers strike out for 3 days in the up and coming days. This is the second or third time that they are going to carry out these actions because they don’t want modern work conditions.
The stock markets have been yo-yo-ing too over the last couple of days, reacting to the various decisions being made in the different sectors. Today, for instance, the States announced growth in their GDP and all of a sudden the world is a rosy place to live in. In all honesty, its just a mask to cover the truth of the difficult times.
Or is it?
See, I have always thought that the majority of people of people, especially in the UK are heavily influenced by ‘decision makers’. Very few people are ready to stand up and be accountable for their decisions. As a result, we have the society and situations like we do now. I read somewhere that recession is just a word, and to a fair extent – it is true. Not enough people take the initiative of being different, creating change and then making it count.
I want to share this snippet from Owl Sparks with you. The original post can be found [here]; this post captures the problem very well. The solution…. well it’s there for us to think, and then act. Have a read!
People either decide to change or are changed by force, no news there.
What’s worrying is the mindset.
Those who don’t choose change have old mindsets. Mindsets that don’t work.
When change comes by force, it comes fast. It’s a phone call, a headline, a talk to your boss or girlfriend. There’s no time for any adaptability of the mind.
The result is people trying to reject change by acting the way they shouldn’t.
This is why you see mothers and fathers partying and drinking as if they were still young and single, or people commiting suicide when they are fired, dumped or stressed. These are people hanging on to their previous way of thinking.
The sad news is the world doesn’t care about what you think. What you do is all that matters.
The few that love change and decide to do it, go through a process. They choose and embrace the new mindset that works with that change. They think about the consequences.
This is probably the most important reason to seek change:
Because if you are not ready you’ll hurt yourself and others.
