@LiliCosic, Actually - the healthcare bill is held up by the finance commitee and is actually going through the motions between the two houses. It is actually not in Obama's hands to pass it at the moment, it's down to the technicalities and legalities. What Obama HAS done is pushed through the reforms, and the system has it's processes! Ofcourse you do realise the scale of the Healthcare reforms... it's not a million dollars or 10 people that this will impact.... it's closer to $3trillion and affects 47million uninsured people. They are looking to cut almost $900 billion off the costs of healthcare; the burden and the implications of the changes on the remaining 250 million odd people is huge.... would you like that decision to be made in 9 months? Moreover, the first vote of this is today (13 Oct 2009) - hey guess what, progress in 9 months ;)

As for Gitmo, surely you know that it is being decomissioned and the legality of the "prisoners" is being verified via courts in US and other countries - surely you wouldnt want a criminal to be walking your streets.... right? Also, Gitmo is closing this year and it is the international community who as causing delays in taking "ownership" of their "prisoners". I think it is naive to claim that nothing is being done about Gitmo!

Also, you do realise that there is a joint US-Iraqi comittee which is investigating the status of a lot of the prisoners held since 2003; infact, this was setup under the leadership of Dubya, and with all due respect - 9 months is nowhere long enough to "resolve" a mess which has been created over the past 6 years!

Unfortunately, no newspaper/media will come out and highlight these facts on the front pages because you know... it wont sell!

Bill Clinton for one would be a better choice, or the people of the USA for electing him, he personally hasn't done anything only spoke elegantly same as JFK really!

He had a lot of opportunities to pass the bills on health care, to move troops from the middle east, to close Gunatanamo altogether, to investigate the former administration on torture, etc etc yet after 9 months in office he hasn't done any of these things.

@Mariano, Ok - $700billion stimulus pushed by Democrats - Obama leading the way; Guantanamo closure initiated by Obama - it is a political process to send the prisoners "home", and to verify their innocence - the Bush admin screwed up with this too; Healthcare reforms; Improved international relations - He has innitiated tehse with progress at varying levels. What he has achieved is getting people on both sides to stand with him, what he has achieved is the improvement of the US stature in the international community, what he has achieved is the steadying of the decline of the economy - and can I add that he has achieved this in 9 months!

What I want to ask you (the royal you), is what did you expect him to achieve in 9 months - what were your expectations? All I can hear from everyone is Obama didnt achieve this or achieve that - nobody says - well... we expected xyz, and it has not happened; perhaps then there will be a stronger argument with repect to what he needs to focus more strongly on.

In the meantime - do understand, realise, and identify what he HAS achieved to date - it is commendable at the very least!

@biscuitinabasket, I so agree - We've got a local election coming up to vote for the new Mayor (don't know if you heard about Frank Branston). I think I know who I am going to vote for but I'm not sure.

There were girls out yesterday delivering Labour leaflets (but it might have been Lib Dem I couldn't read the badges when I drove past.

My other half keeps suggesting that I read the manifesto's etc that get dropped through our door but they are all saying the same thing - we can do better than the last dude. It bugs me lol.

@masyla, Obama will enforce changes, but no change ever happens without vision. The man is initiating his vision at every level, and I am sure he will reform that nation over the next 8 years (yes, he will win a second term!)

@Jasumi Haski, So I am guessing you have some concrete evidence for your claim.... because it is the most ridicullous thing I have ever heard! Infact, the US legal system should be questioned if what you claim is true. Moreover, look at it logically - why will the republicans want a democrat hell bent at raising taxes for the rich come into power?

Dude - you need to pop your bubble and get out a little! ;)
