Technically this post was written last year shortly after my Grandma passed away. I wanted to write something about my memories of her but I kept getting bogged down in unnecessary detail so here is the post I wrote before.
This is my Grandma and my cousins D and M.
This photo was taken last August the day before my Grandads birthday in my Aunts Garden.
My Grandma was an amazing lady. She brought up four children, My Dad, My Uncle Steve, My Auntie Alison and My Uncle Jon. She then was part of mine and my cousin’s development into the young people we are today.
Her birthday is the 2nd April which is also my parents wedding anniversary.
I’m glad that she was able to see me graduate from University last year – she was at the ceremony which was really good – unfortunately she doesn’t really like her photo taken so she wouldn’t have a photo taken with me in my granduation stuff.
My Grandma was an amazing woman as I said at the top. I can recount lots of stories that she’d tell me about my Dad and my aunt and Uncles, like when my Dad put my Aunt in the Bath fully clothed or used to pick Jon up by his ankles and things like that.
I remember one time we were at Grandma’s and I sat on the stepladder in the middle of the garden singing Edelweiss. I didn’t know all the words but I made up the rest when I forgot them!
Most Wednesday’s Grandma would meet me, D, M and my Bro from school (we went to two different lower schools but they were next door to each other!) and we’d go for tea – when Uncle Jon lived with Grandma and Grandad – he’d wind us up something stupid then send us home to our parents – Mum and Dad weren’t definitely not impressed!!!!!
My name is HanniePants, and I rock at Journal of a Rock Angel

It’s a blessing for you to have known your grandma so well, and have such lovely memories of her. Three of my grandparents had already passed on by the time I came into the world, and I did not have a good relationship with my remaining grandmother, due to her living in a different part of the country. Plus, there was a language barrier (she couldn’t speak English).
And yet, I do have some nice memories. I remember I used to pray alongside her when I was very little. I had no idea what she was doing, but I still followed along.
I never really met any of my grandparents, so am usually quite jealous of people who’ve had a lot of interaction with theirs.
But, your GM sounds like a lovely lady
M
Grandparents are very special pple, who touch our lives deeply.
Your grandma sounds like a wonderful person
Grandparents are the best. Both my Grandmas made such an impact on my life. Your Grandma sounds like a great lady.

Grandparents are the BEST…wish I had more time with mine
Wow!
Thank you everyone for your comments
Thats fab
She was a great lady. She was fun – I used to say that some days she was a teenager stuck in an old lady’s body. She’d play to be offended but she liked the idea that she could be a teenager again lol.
I have 2 surviving grandparents and I ry and take every opportunity to learn and gain from their experiences. Often they have ways of doing and saying things which don’t fit my way of life, and their overworrying of the simplest thing – well dont get me started on that – but at the end of it all when I leave their house, I know the feeling of how much of an influence they are on my life.
The fact that I am an almost carbon copy of mom’s dad is also something which is a big thing for me too – a lot of people relate my actions to my grandad’s just because there is a way to link me to him
