The past may not always be about your childhood. Your childhood is not always sunshine and giggles. When trying to remember the past, the bad and life-changing things are easier to pull out of my head than the good.
Yet, the good memories do pop out, but not when I want to. They come out in everyday conversation. Like when talking to my main squeeze, I remembered a story about Bengali boys being midgets in my batch. It was pretty funny. Since I already wrote about it before on my blog, I’ll let you read it here.
Anyway, I spent a lot of side-tracking and searching very hard to find any memory that was pleasant and isn’t rated-R. I do remember one thing – I was addicted to Ribena as a child. I loved the stuff and could guzzle them like water. My mom has told me that when I was a toddler speeding around in Pampers, I would drink so much of it that my mom had to make the entire bottle of concentrate in a big pot enough to make the Eid Biryani – that’s how much I drank it.
Unfortunately, they don’t make the stuff in the big concentrate bottles anymore. As you can see, I was also psychic about its demise:

Well, Ribena is not a bad addiction at all. I saw a documentary a month or so ago in which they showed kids in Appalachias of the US being fed Mountain Dew in their baby bottles! I’m sorry the big bottle of Ribena is no longer around
We had something similar called Cascade Blackcurrant cordial. Not so sweet. My brother loved it. I just loathe it. Once at a local market I saw a mother give her daughter a baby bottle full of coca cola – I was quite surprised.
I love the expression on your face. LOL!
I’ve never heard of Ribena. Sounds interesting.
@digital nomad:
Never was a fan of fizzy drinks. Apparently, its still available in the UK, but not in the UAE.
