- Have an Isaac Newton and apple moment when an idea drops into head…
- Jump up and do the idea dance…
- Brainstorm the idea faster than I can think….
- Dance once more..
- Forget idea…
- Squint eyes and shout “DOH”….
- Try to re-trace thoughts…
- Pick up fragments of thoughts…
- Re-brainstorm ideas…
- 5 hours later forget idea one again because I didnt write it down… AGAIN…
- Loop between step 7 and 11 until I write idea on paper…
- Read idea and think – “That’s not what I danced to….”
- “DOH”
Most of you who know me personally will probably know that I have a knack of coming up with ideas… good ideas sometimes…. but I don’t necessarily think them through! The 7 posts in 7 days project was something very similar. The idea popped in my head on Saturday morning and by Sunday night I was on step 12. However, I didnt have the unlucky 13 “doh” moment. Why? Well, think I may have I taken the idea to a higher level!
On Sunday morning, when the original post went live, the motivation was to get 7 people to write a post on the theme of “change”. The post could be something based on their life, something in general, something small, or something large; as long as it addresses the theme, it will go live. By Sunday night, the motivation had changed and I was now looking to get as many people as possible to take part as a guest blogger. I also introduced an incentive for taking part as a guest blogger, I am now 95 comments away from number 500, and the 500th commenter (and blogger on whose post the comment went out) will receive a little something something; you can read about this in yesterdays post.
I am also trying to organise myself better; there may be some teething problems in getting things organised, but hang in there with me you guys! For all those of you who have declared an intent to participate, I would appreciate it if you could type a post up in a word document, format it according to how you want (fonts, pictures – go crazy!), and forward it on to me. Write the post as if you would write it on your own blog; the only difference – you are writing to a theme. I have received one post already… it will be the first one to be published… but who will it be?
I am also going to cap the project to 14 posts. I will schedule the posts to appear at Midnight, and Noon UK time (GMT) between the 25th and 31st of January 2009. I still have 5 spots open. I am waiting for confirmation from 2 people, so effectively 3 more spots open (out of 5)…
Do check out the blogs of the people on the roster, and add them to your reader. These guys post and contribute regularly, and are definitely worth checking out! If you have emailed me with intent to participate, and I haven’t given you a shout out as yet, let me know… it’s been a long day for me, and emails have gone missing
If you haven’t emailed me as yet, and think you have some thoughts you could share with us all – what are you waiting for, drop me a line, and I’ll drag you on board (if all the spots are not taken)!
So far, this is my roster:
Mali, who has Gone fishing without my GPS
The number cruncher from Lili’s Blog
Still searching for his co-ordinates – The Legend of G
Drinking Raindrops with HFM
Someone From the stupidest corner of my mind – possibly Antonella… or Anto… or Ace… or Thrice… or…
For the Love of Life please don’t ask MY for bite sized paragraphs!
Mars who describes The Inner Workings of a Media Junkie
The random and funny insights of Falakk from Starry Eyed Book Lovers
The cool procrastinating Outcast Rebel Chic
Ooh, new idea!
For all those who have already got a mention, make sure you spread the word on your own blogs. You dont want your own followers to miss your guest post next week now, do you?
Now you see why I forget my ideas? Doing 5 different things at the same time is not easy for a guy!

She’s not your MY, she’s my MY
(Runs in circle screaming like a 2 your old)
Does MY know we are fighting over her?
@mars
A recipe will be a good idea; I like variety, and that could be another angle to this
Wow, you’re pretty eccentirc, love the guide hope mine was a fun as that – it basically consists of me getting an idea then forgetting it secounds afterward then it coming back to haunt me the me forgetting and so on and so forth until i put it out of its misery and write it down someplace.
Now Now children. there is enough love to go around, I assure you
First up, awesome article! I’ve got a big question bothering me, I really like the theme of your site and tried to download the same theme on my WP website. Yet, there is some kind of strange php error in the footer. Do you have any tips, which settings are you using? Please PM me on Twitter @ThaiStuz or per e-mail.
