I was at home yesterday afternoon getting damn damn frustrated. I kept getting twitter messages from idiots who were ‘promoting’ Israels actions in Gaza. Now for whatever reason, I could not reply back to most of these messages (either via my PC or BB). Speaking to a couple of other people, they seemed to be having similar problems too.
Now, a situation like this doesn’t really affect me; however this did. This got me really worked up. Why?… Well, it wasn’t the messages or the content of the messages, but it is the ignorance which really bothers me. The events which are happening in the region are wrong, and we can all argue till the cows come home of the reasons why it is all happening. However, I wished some of the narrow minded dimwits would realise that they are fighting a lost cause. Too many people are looking at one side of the coin and arguing a point which is so outdated. It’s as if these people are holding on to something. Maybe you need to be loved…. or maybe there isn’t a heart which beats, or a heart so dark and cold that you will understand HUMAN suffering. If there is more than air between your ears, you will realise I am not talking about this ‘war’ or any other conflict between these 2 states.
I think that arguing, reasoning (logically or otherwise), or trying to put a point across is useless with certain people (and this goes out to both sides of the fence (pun totally intended)). There are 2 things which you can do. If you have the means, go out there and help the people of Gaza in terms of medical aid. More than anything, the hospitals and the medical people are overwhelmed with the scale of the problem. If that is not possible, then donate towards aid, medicine, and food. The people of Gaza need food aid and medication the most.
Above all, they need our prayers. Our sincere prayers. I am not saying this just because they are Palestinians, or from a religious point of view. Most of the idiots who I mentioned above think that it is only Muslims who are suffering in this – guess what – wrong again. There are Christians, there are people of minor faiths, damn – there may be the odd Jewish person caught up in this fighting. All these people are humans. They were not born embossed with a religion. Each and every one needs our prayers for the ease of suffering, pain, and difficulty for the people of Gaza.
A couple of the blogs I follow have already thrown this call out – do visit and read what they have to say too:
For all those who will try and leave a negetive comment, I will mark your comments as spam (Yes, it’s like that – so SUE ME!). There are too many people who claim to represent their people (in terms of region) or their religion, but are talking nothing but hatred. For the 2 main religions which are concerned – both Islam and Judaism categorically condemn violence and human suffering, so why the hell do you people have inhumane views?
Pray for humans – not for Palestinian or Israeli, Muslim or Jew or any other religion.
(If you need any inspriation – keep checking the comments – I will try and post experiences of locals, foreign aid workers and international media.)

Nice to see your post on this subject also. The problem with aid is that it is just not getting through.
Hi, well, I’m not surprised to read this because this is something huge – negatively huge..wars..sigh..:(
A guy named “Esraa” left a comment on my blog the other day, with a hyperlink that wouldn’t work when I clicked on it. I didn’t publish the comment because I didn’t know what the video he was sending me was about, anyway, I know wars have two sides, but I also know it’s useless fighting or taking part in a war that’s not ours. I agree with you, all we can do is pray, regardless of the religion we belong to.
i think you mean “condemn” such behavior – “condone” means to forgive or let such behavior happen
Freudian Slip – My bad!
a thoughtful post. Yes, they need our prayers. War is not what that region needs.
